The best positions for your sex life
Sex is considered part of every adult’s life. Although every sexual act is linked to the same thing, namely pleasure and procreation, sex varies from culture to culture and sometimes involves rituals and even pain.
It is said that there is a custom in every country. The same is true of the sleeping arrangements. What would seem normal to Africans would be perceived by Europeans as perverse and even inhumane. Sexuality education differs from one part of the world to another – for some it is natural and necessary for their well-being and safety, for others sex is closely connected to religion and acts in accordance with what the faith dictates, for others, children’s communication with adults is not controversial. Sexual preference in different countries arouses curiosity when it comes to interesting sexual rituals, sometimes anxiety and even disgust, but it is worth remembering that sexual initiation and lifestyles in different places are usually dictated by cultural norms and traditions, cultivated over generations. Sex plays different roles in different cultures – it can be a source of mystical experiences, an occasion for perverse domination, a pleasure in which one can lose oneself completely, or a duty to be fulfilled according to one’s religion’s recommendations in order to bear children. Strange sexual traditions are also part of the culture and type of tradition, as are interesting sexual rituals that are often simply frightening.
Sex in different cultures – libido and nationality
There is a belief that Italian women are true lovers, Spaniards are fiery women who will ignite every man’s feelings and the male population of Africa knows exactly what is behind the saying – “size matters”. Sexuality is present in everyone’s life, regardless of nationality, colour or locality, but sex looks very different in different cultures. This has to do not only with culture and tradition, but also with temperament and libido.
It has been noted that sexual desire and the number of sexual partners depend on where a person comes from. The average number of sexual partners in a global perspective is estimated to be 10-11. 25% of the population surveyed from several countries in the world had only one partner in their lives. On the other hand, 21% said they had had sexual relations with more than 10 partners. The Japanese were the highest on the sexual catwalk, both in terms of the number of sexual partners (the average number being 19) and in terms of what they were interested in, namely interesting sexual rituals and experiments. It is worth noting, however, that it is members of this nationality, like the Chinese, who lose sexual activity the fastest. Brazilians, on the other hand, who are often regarded as hot lovers, usually have sex with 15 people in a lifetime. The Vietnamese ranked lowest, with over 90% stating that they had sex with no more than two partners.
Sexual preferences in different countries
We already know what the issue of libido looks like, so it’s time to get to know sexual preferences. Koreans find themselves in bed more often – the average number of sex acts per week is 4.5 – almost double the global average. However, it is worth noting here that Koreans also like to use paid sexual services. Second place with an average of 4.2 can’t complain about libido, followed by Romanians at 4.08. In addition to frequency, time also matters, especially for women, who are known to peak later than men. If you dream of an affair with a foreigner and count on long minutes full of bliss, seduce a Mexican – 23 minutes and 17 seconds is the average duration of intercourse. The Dutch are in second place with 22 minutes and 42 seconds, and the Spaniards 22 minutes and 35 seconds. The Portuguese are characterised by sexual initiation based on a variety of sensations, while the Brazilians enjoy threesomes. The Italians are masters of the female orgasm and the British are masters of the long foreplay, which usually lasts over 17 minutes! Japan, on the other hand, is a cluster of lovers of kink, BDSM and a variety of, often amazing, sex toys and sex machines.
Interesting sexual rituals
Circumcision, ritual dances and body adornment, the sharing of women – strange sexual traditions are certainly more or less familiar to us all, but what does sex look like in practice in different cultures?
- Africa. If you wonder what the sexual habits in Africa are like, the answer is interesting and terrifying at the same time. Of course, it all depends on the region and the traditions of the ethnic groups. For some Africans, sexual initiation is a sacred form of bonding with a god and a spiritual exchange between lovers, the Maasai living in Kenya and northern Tanzania enjoy exchanging circumcised women with other men of the same age group who have been circumcised on the same day. Kenya is also a place where interesting sexual rituals reign. For example, sex for a good harvest or a good life in a new place. There is also a kind of sexual hierarchy – a man who brings his wife to the family home cannot start sexual intercourse until his parents have finished having sex.
- Papua New Guinea. Women are treated as unclean creatures here, so boys are separated from their mothers as early as age 7. Children’s transition to the adult male world involves cutting and piercing their skin to clean the marks of impurity created by contact with women. Boys under the tutelage of men are required to drink their sperm. The purpose of this is to invigorate and strengthen the body. Sexual education in this case is extremely poor.
- China. For the Chinese, sexual initiation is a kind of skill and art to be perfected throughout life. The basic premise of lovemaking is to balance on the edge of pleasure – men should not allow themselves to orgasm and ejaculate because this, in the spirit of Taoism, causes them to lose the life-giving energy of yang. The Chinese also like to designate intimate places, both male and female – for example: the penis is a scarlet bird, a faithful servant or a spear, while the scabbard is a cave, a golden gate or an anemone. The sex positions also have original names here.
- Arab countries. Sex in different cultures is sometimes conditioned by religion. This is the case in Arab countries, where sexual initiation is dictated by the Koran. According to the teachings of Islam, sex is not only for procreation, but also for pleasure, provided it takes place between spouses – unmarried people are not allowed to indulge in physical pleasures. It is also important that the woman is the first to reach orgasm. Tradition in Arab countries forbids menstrual intercourse and anal sex with a woman because it does not result in sexual satisfaction for the woman. Lovers may only indulge in sexual pleasures in bed. If one wonders if there are any strange sexual traditions here, surely it must include a commitment to living in community. The Koran – the book must be covered during sexual intercourse and the man must recite the sequence “In the name of Allah. Allah, save us from Satan and save Satan from what you give us”. Immediately after the games are over, the couple should take a bath.
- India is home to the Kamasutra, sexual rituals and symbols, and a lot of controversy. Although sex dominated the culture of the region, it is now treated as a sin. Marriage and sex are only for the purpose of procreation, and displays of affection in public are forbidden and require instructions from the police. Until recently, there was also a ban on showing kissing in Hindu films. Excessive indulgence in the passions and pleasures of the flesh is interpreted as sin and a moral offence – sex should be more emotional and take the form of spiritual enlightenment. India is a place full of paradoxes, as evidenced by the fact that sex with a prostitute is cheaper than buying a condom.
- Japan. If one is interested in strange sexual traditions, strange tastes, Japan hits the spot. There are no taboos here – sexual pleasures are emphasised at every turn, for example in the many pornographic magazines that are everywhere – including in waiting rooms. Love hotels, erotic massage parlours – also dedicated exclusively to women, phallic festivals, strange erotic gadgets and a wide range of sexual services, including for fetishists and fans of BDSM games. The Japanese do not consider sex a sin or a lack of morality, nor do they understand purity, as is common in Christian culture. In Japan, sex is treated as fun, rewarding and satisfying.
Conclusion
Sex takes many forms in different cultures. Strange sexual traditions that are shocking are normal in other parts of the world, and even boring for some. Interesting sexual rituals involving body adornment or treating sexual intercourse as a sacred rite are intertwined with sexual acts involving mutilation and pain, as well as direct interference in the sexual lives of children and women. Sex in other countries is conditioned by the culture, the level of sexual education in that place, the level of education and tradition, which are often considered sacred, non-negotiable and non-changeable.
